  • Starting January 1, 2025, the FAA implemented a new approach for color vision testing (CVT):

    For first-time examinees, CVT is now performed one time to screen for color vision deficiency.

    If you have historically passed any previously approved CVT, you do not need to retest. This is true for all certificate classes.

    All CVT is now carried out using an approved computerized testing method. At Iowa Aviation Medical Exams, we use Waggoner CCVT.

  • No. We can only test urine for glucose (sugar) and protein. We do not have the equipment to test for anything else. The FAA does not require any drug testing for a medical certificate.

  • No. We are only able to test urine for glucose (sugar) and protein. We do not perform any blood testing in our office.

  • Please call to ask about scheduling an appointment for a time that isn’t open. If possible, we will accommodate your request. The cost for the appointment would be the same as for our regularly scheduled hours. Concierge appointments can be scheduled for early mornings, evenings, and weekends.

  • We are unable to issue a replacement certificate if yours is lost or destroyed. To obtain a replacement certificate from the FAA, you can make your request online or through the mail. Click here to get started.
